Galedffrwd Mill - Riverside Bed & Breakfast (B&B)
Accommodation Snowdonia North Wales
At the foot of the Nant Ffrancon pass in the Ogwen valley, arguably the most beautiful valley in Snowdonia.
This unique watermill has been converted to give an indulgent 21st Century feel, set in its own grounds with 2 rivers tumbling down from the Glyder & Carneddau mountains. Stylish, modern and comfortable.
The atmosphere is relaxed, informal and friendly. It is the little things that make the difference, like the care and attention we devote to your needs, no matter how great or small. We are proud of our accommodation, and it is important how we present it to you.
Books on local walks, Ordinance survey & street maps, plus 100s of leaflets to help make the most of your stay.
Set 200m from the nearest road, you can be assured of peace and tranquillity. To ensure our guests are not disturbed we only accept advance bookings & have no advertising at the entrance.
The emphasis of a B & B has to be on it's beds. At Galedffrwd Mill you will never sleep on anything but sumptuous white Egyptian linen. Rooms themselves are tasteful, simple and full of quality and warmth.
All rooms with TV/DVD, Silent fridges, Tea/Coffee/Chocolate, fresh milk, fruit & biscuits.
Easy walks, well most of them.
A footpath runs through our grounds (next to the stone wall), it leads to a footbridge over the river and on into the village of Bethesda with shops and pubs (10 minutes walk). Incidentally we have a posh new doctors surgery & chemists on your left when on this walk.
In the woods is an old graveyard (through the kissing gate & diagonally left), take a torch when its dark “really spooky”.
About 100m from our entrance is Felin Fawr workshops wander round the back and you’ll find a second hand book shop just past the derelict waterwheel.
The Felin Fawl workshops are also part of the Lon Las Ogwen cycle way and a 30 minute walk along the valley will take you to Ogwen bank waterfalls, continuing for about 90minutes up the Nant Ffrancon pass will bring you to lake Ogwen with a café and bus stop to return home.
For stunning views down onto LLanberis & its castle with Snowdon in the background. A 15 min drive and a 20 min walk. On leaving the mill turn right onto the road and then immediately left for Mynydd LLandygai, continue to T junction at the top of the hill & turn right, at next T junction turn left, continue to next T junction (approx 2 miles) & turn right, then take first left turn & down the hill, continue to T junction & turn left, continue approx 2 miles to the end of the road where you will find a turning circle & parking area. Kissing gate gives access for the easy walk to Dinorwic quarry high above llanberis.
If you are feeling more energetic, after parking your car continue along the narrow tarmac road, past the outward bound centre, continuing along dirt track to the end, footpath is on your left down the hill, continue about 300m, turn left at the sign for the barracks, at the other side of the derelict barracks is one of the quarry inclines, up you go to the top, at the top turn left if your legs will let you (large stone to rest on) continue to view point fantastic views, footpath continues to car park with quarry buildings on your right.
